Jan. 10, 2019 1:52 P.M. (Updated: Jan. 11, 2019 4:02 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian government announced that Palestinians holding Israeli citizenship must obtain a permission before being able to rent in the occupied West Bank.

According to a statement issued by the Palestinian government at the weekly cabinet meeting in the central West Bank city of Ramallah, that this procedure is intended for organizational purposes only and it should take two weeks to give an answer after an application is submitted.

"Anyone who wishes to rent out a property to a Palestinian who holds an Israeli ID card must obtain permission from [his or her local] authority.”

The statement added, “It is intended to protect the public interest.”

However, the Cabinet said that Palestinians from occupied East Jerusalem who have Israeli residency but not citizenship since Israel has annexed the city after its occupation in 1967 are exempt from this procedure.
