60-year-old Palestinian assaulted, detained in Hebron

HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a 60-year-old Palestinian after Israeli settlers assaulted him in Masafer Yatta area of the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron, on Thursday evening.

Ratib al-Jabour, coordinator of a local committee that resists settlement activity, identified the detained Palestinian as Ziyad Muhammad Younis Mukhamra, 60.

Al-Jabour confirmed that Mukhamra was assaulted by Israeli settlers. His condition remained unknown.
Following the assault, Israeli forces detained Mukhamra and transferred him for interrogation.
According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,500 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons.
