TUBAS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a former Palestinian prisoner, on late Friday, from the Tammun village, south of the northern occupied West Bank district of Tubas, at Israel's Zaatara military checkpoint in Nablus.

Local sources said that Israeli forces detained Muhammad Ahmad Odeh as he was returning from Ramallah City, in the central West Bank, to his hometown of Tammun through the Zaatara checkpoint.

The reason for Odeh’s detention remained unknown.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,500 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons.
