Israeli forces raze southern Hebron road

Feb. 13, 2019 3:40 P.M. (Updated: Feb. 14, 2019 10:30 A.M.)
HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces razed a road in southern Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank, on Monday afternoon.

Coordinator of popular resistance committees in southern Hebron, Rateb al-Jbour, said that Israeli bulldozers razed the road connecting Khillet al-Dabaa and Masafer Yatta area, that was rehabilitated by the committee, Masafer Yatta and al-Tuwwana village councils to facilitate the movement of residents.

Israeli forces have continuously sealed off the road since it was opened.

The South Hebron Hills, known locally as Masafer Yatta, lie almost entirely in Area C, the 62 percent of the West Bank under full Israeli civil and security control since the 1993 Oslo Accords.

Masafer Yatta residents were expelled at the time of the establishment of a firing zone in the 1970s and were eventually allowed back following a long court battle, but are under the constant threat of being expelled or seeing their homes demolished.
