Israel reopens Beit El checkpoint after 2-month closure

Feb. 19, 2019 1:31 P.M. (Updated: Feb. 20, 2019 11:23 A.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities decided to reopen the Beit El checkpoint, the northern entrance of al-Bireh City and the Ein Siniya crossroads, on Tuesday, after more than two months of closure as a “collective punishment” following a shooting attack.

The Palestinian Civil Liaison confirmed that the checkpoint was reopened and would operate all days of the week from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., except for Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

In mid-December, a Palestinian near the illegal Israeli settlement of Ofra carried out a shooting attack, killing two Israeli soldiers and critically injuring another two.
