Slain Palestinian teen laid to rest in Ramallah

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Thousands of Palestinians marched in the funeral of 16-year-old Samah Mubarak, on Saturday, whose body was returned to her family by the Israeli authorities on Friday evening.

Israel had returned Mubarak’s body outside of the Ofer detention center in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah and al-Bireh after 36 days of being withheld.

Mubarak was shot and killed by Israeli forces, on January 30th, at the al-Zaayim checkpoint, on a road that leads to the entrance of the illegal Israeli settlement of Maale Adumim, east of occupied Jerusalem, for allegedly wielding a knife in an attempt to carry out a stabbing attack against heavily armed Israeli soldiers.

Funeral procession set off from in front of the Palestine Medical Center in Ramallah City, towards Mubarak’s family home in the Qaddura refugee camp.

Mubarak’s body was then carried on shoulders to the Jamal Abed al-Nasser mosque in the al-Bireh City before burials at the city’s cemetery.

Mourners waved the Palestinian flag and pictures of Samah while repeating slogans condemning Israeli crimes against Palestinians.
