Injuries reported as Israeli forces raid Salfit-area towns

March 18, 2019 12:07 P.M. (Updated: March 18, 2019 12:07 P.M.)
SALFIT (Ma'an) -- Two Palestinians were injured as Israeli forces raided the al-Zawiya town in western Salfit, in the northern occupied West Bank, late Sunday, firing rubber-coated steel bullets and stun grenades.

Naim Shqeir, Mayor of al-Zawiya, told Ma’an that some 20 Israeli military patrols “provocatively” raided several homes in the town following a shooting attack near the illegal Israeli settlement of Ariel.

Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets and stun, injuring two Palestinians in the abdomen and leg.

Meanwhile in the nearby Kafr al-Dik town, one Palestinian was injured with a tear-gas bomb in the face, and was transferred to a hospital for treatment, during clashes that erupted between locals and Israeli soldiers in the town.

Muhammad al-Dik, the town’s mayor, said that Israeli soldiers prevented residents from entering or leaving the town.
