EU top official: UK to 'face abyss' after failure to back Brexit options

BRUSSELS (Ma'an) -- The European Parliament's top Brexit official said that the United Kingdom. has a "last chance" to break the deadlock on leaving the European Union (EU), on Tuesday.

The British Parliament once again rejected alternative options to UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal, on late Monday, plunging the Brexit process into uncertainty ten days before the scheduled departure on April 12th.

In response to the rejection, European Parliament’s top official, Guy Verhofstadt posted a tweet on his Twitter, warning "The House of Commons again votes against all options. A hard Brexit becomes nearly inevitable.”

He added, “On Wednesday, the UK has a last chance to break the deadlock or face the abyss."
