Palestinian prisoner throws hot water at Israeli guard

April 3, 2019 2:02 P.M. (Updated: April 5, 2019 10:56 A.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Tensions continue to mount at the Israeli Negev prison, in southern Israel, following “continuous provocations” by the Israeli Prison Services (IPS) against Palestinian prisoners, the Palestinian Prisoners and Former Prisoners’ Affairs reported on Wednesday.

The committee said that Israeli suppression forces assaulted a Palestinian prisoner at section 1 of the prison and transferred him to a unknown location, claiming that he threw hot water at an Israeli guard.

The IPS had confiscated all electronic devices from inside section 1 as tensions increased at the prison since February 19th,after prisoners protested against the IPS installing jamming devices around sections of the prison.

Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners were assaulted and injured by Israeli prison guards in the Negev prison after Hamas-affiliated prisoners stabbed two Israeli prison guards in March.

Afterwards, the IPS handcuffed some 90 Palestinian prisoners held at section 3 of the prison overnight. Strict restrictions were also imposed against prisoners at Negev by IPS.
