United Torah Judaism party gains 1 extra Knesset seat

JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- The United Torah Judaism political party will have an additional seat on the next Israeli Knesset at the expense of the right-wing Likud party, on Monday.

According to Hebrew-language news outlets, United Torah Judaism party leader, Yaakov Litzman, said that during a consultation with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, that his party was informed it would have an additional seat in the Knesset “at the expense of Likud.”
Following the announcement, the party has a total of eight seats in the Knesset.

Meanwhile, Rivlin started consultations with representatives of the new Israeli parliament’s factions ahead of appointing the country's next prime minister, which he believes has the best chance of building a parliamentary majority.
